The AREMA Student Chapter at UMass Lowell was founded in 2019 by Kevin McGrath, who was inspired to establish the chapter after discovering his passion for railway engineering during a summer internship with the MassDOT Rail Division.
Our chapter is dedicated to connecting students with industry professionals, expanding knowledge in railway engineering, and fostering a vibrant community of passionate learners committed to advancing their impact and career.
As we enter our fifth year under a fourth president, the chapter has hosted industry guest speakers, successfully organized the school’s first railway engineering career panel, and sponsored a member to attend the 2023 AREMA Annual Conference.
We’re interested in hosting a variety of events, including speaker sessions highlighting upcoming and past projects, career panels featuring industry professionals, site visits to railway facilities, and volunteering at industry events.
